Reis checklist

Een lijst met essentiële tips voordat je gaat reizen

Ik heb een checklist samengesteld die je kunt gebruiken voor de planning en voorbereidingen voor je reis. Print hem uit om te zorgen dat je niks vergeet!

Holiday Fundamentals

First of all: put on that big smile! You are going on a holiday!
Flight tickets: keep copies through an app, screenshots, emails, or prints.
Choose a travel app to keep you organized. I personally love Tripit, this app really makes my life a lot easier when I travel around the world.
If you don’t speak the language of your destination: Google translate is key!
Passport: make sure it is valid for at least 6 months after entry, many countries require this.
Driver’s license: do you need an international driver’s licence?
Visa (when applicable): memorize your expiration date and never overextend.
Vaccinations and their certificates (when applicable): mostly applies to yellow fever vaccinations.
Cash money (but this doesn’t apply to all countries). In most countries you can get cash with your bankcards which is often cheaper than exchanging. However, always keep $50-$100 on you for emergencies.
Credit card(s): make sure to check their expiration date.

Travel Clothing

Lightweight clothing that can be layered (I am really bad at this myself and always have max luggage, but you may want to be kind to your back and neck).
Light, long-sleeved shirts.
T-shirts/ tank tops. Be conscious of the type of country you’re visiting, for example, choose t-shirts over tank tops in many Muslim countries.
Pants/skirts and shorts (see above).
Sweater or hoody.
Belt (not while flying, it’s a hassle to take off and on at the security check).
Flip flops and trainers or comfortable walking shoes.
Underwear.
Socks.
Swimwear like your bikini/trunks. Bring a sarong instead of beach towel.
Hat or cap.
Towel. Bring small sized ones or travel towels if you can.
Rain gear, when applicable. Is it rain or monsoon season?

Extra Considerations

Toiletries.
Sunglasses/glasses, protection case and spares if you think you need them.
Contact lenses and spares (when applicable).
Mini sewing kit.
First aid kit.
Torch or headlamp.
Medication when applicable. A few painkillers and diarrhoea medicine will always come in handy when you need them.
Sunscreen (for Australia: buy it here, it is often cheaper).
Insect repellent.
Chargers and cables for electronic devices.
Headphones.
Camera and spare memory cards.
External hard drive to back up your photo’s (in case digital access to clouds is limited).
Book or ebook.
World adapter and power bank.
Travel speaker.
A re-usable bag for shopping, going to the beach etc.
Address label on your suitcase and/ or backpack.
Backpack/suitcase lock(s).

Get Insurance Cover

Health insurance.
Travel insurance.
Emergency contacts.
Save a digital copy of your passport/important travel documents
Banking contacts/information.
