Byron Bay & Spot X Surf Camp
Live music, no fast food and plenty of hippies
This little hippie town is based on the most Eastern point of Australia. Loads of live music and no fast food is allowed here, which results in the most amazing restaurants and café’s you can find. I totally recommend Miss Margarita, Asia Joes and the Cardamom pod, how does pumpkin cheesecake sound? I can give you a bigger list if you like, just pm me. Byron Bay is also one of the locations you HAVE to visit if you like the underwater world and animals like sharks. Please look here for all the amazing wildlife you can see here.
My recommendations
- Any hostel or hotel you fancy.
- Diving or snorkelling at Julian Rocks.
- Kayaking with dolphins.
- Hang gliding.
- The Lighthouse walk (free and must do). You can spot dolphins, whales and other wildlife here. I found a goat and a few wallabies.
- Surf lessons, you can find the longest surf break of Australia in Byron Bay.
- Learn how to fly a Gyrocopter!
- Whale watching (May till October).

Living the dream!
Honestly, from the moment you arrive here you have the feeling you are living the dream! It is kind of in the middle of nowhere which makes it so special. You can drive here yourself but the Premier and Greyhound buses stop here also. This surf camp is so much fun: it includes your surf lessons, accommodation and meals. In the morning you learn how to surf, and they guarantee that you stand up! In the afternoon you can whatever you want. When I lived in Byron I came here often for the weekend because it was so much fun. They also organise their own festival twice a year, a must do!
